The International CARL MARIA VON WEBER Competition is open to young pianists of all nationalities as well as to those of no state. There is no restriction regarding educational status (e.g. university, academy, conservatory, music school or private lessons).

The competition is open to the public in all categories. We request that you wear concert attire.

The competition takes place in the rooms of the Sächsisches Landesgymnasium für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. The final round of category IV will be held in the concert hall of the Dresden College of Music. The prizewinners’ concert will take place on 13 October 2024 at the Semperoper Dresden. In addition, selected prizewinners will be invited to play a concert in another concert hall in Dresden. The prizewinners are obliged to attend the award ceremony and at least one prizewinners’ concert, otherwise they lose the right to the prize awarded.

The order of appearance will be decided by lot at the opening of the competition. The order of the works can be determined by the candidate.

All works must be performed from memory.

Within the prescribed playing time, repetitions are possible at will. The jury reserves the right to interrupt a participant’s performance if the time limit is exceeded.

By participating in the competition, all participants transfer to the Sächsisches Landesgymnasium für Musik Dresden, as the organiser of this competition, the rights to audio, image and video recordings made during the competition, their processing and publication in connection with the competition. No fee can be claimed for recordings made during any part of the competition. The competition organisation reserves the right to make web streaming of the prizewinners’ concerts publicly accessible on the Internet.
